These terms are the agreement between you and us when you use Protein Tally. We have kept them short and plain. By using the app or creating an account, you agree to them.

Protein Tally is not medical advice. It is a diary and a calculator. Phe figures are often estimates (protein × a factor you can change), and food data can be wrong or out of date. Always check food labels, and follow the diet plan from your metabolic clinic or dietitian. Never change a diet, formula or treatment because of something the app shows without talking to them first.

What the app does

Protein Tally lets you scan or search for foods, record what you eat, and add up protein and estimated phe by meal, day, week and month. You can use it without an account, or create a free account to keep your log in sync between devices.

Food information

Product details mostly come from Open Food Facts, a database anyone can edit, and from general food tables. We do not check every product. Recipes change, labels differ between countries, and mistakes happen. You are responsible for checking what you eat.

Your account

Give a real email address you can get to, and keep your password safe.
An account is for one person. A parent or carer may keep a log for a child in their own account.
You must be at least 13 (or 16 where local law says so) to create an account yourself.
Tell us straight away if you think someone else has got into your account.

Your data is yours

Everything you put in the app belongs to you. You let us store and show it back to you only so the app can work. You can export it or delete it at any time. Our privacy policy explains exactly what we keep and why.

Posts and contacts

If you use People, you are responsible for what you post. Be kind, and remember everyone's diet plan is different: share what works for you, but don't tell others what they should eat instead of their clinic. We may remove posts or close accounts that are abusive, misleading about health, spam or unlawful. If someone bothers you, remove them as a contact and let us know.

Fair use

Please do not:

try to get into other people's accounts or data;
attack, overload, scrape or reverse-engineer the service;
use the app for anything unlawful or harmful.

If someone does, we may suspend or close their account.

Cost

Protein Tally is free. If we ever add paid features, we will tell you clearly first, and nothing will be charged without your agreement.

Changes and availability

We are a small project. We will try hard to keep the app running and your data safe, but we cannot promise it will always be available or free of bugs. We may change or remove features. If we ever shut the service down, we will give at least 30 days' notice so you can export your data.

Our responsibility

The app is provided “as is”. As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for any loss or harm that comes from using it, including from wrong food data, wrong phe estimates or lost data. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under consumer law that cannot be excluded, or limits liability that cannot legally be limited.

Ending the agreement

You can stop using the app and delete your account whenever you like. We may close an account that breaks these terms. These terms may change; we will update the date at the top and tell you in the app about any important changes. Carrying on using the app after a change means you accept it.
